The Galaxy A55 is poised to enter the market without a notable upgrade in charging speeds, according to insights gleaned from its 3C certification. In a departure from the usual trend, Samsung has opted not to introduce a new Galaxy A7x smartphone in 2023, hinting at the potential discontinuation of the A7x line. Nevertheless, the Galaxy A5x series will persist, ushering in the Galaxy A55 as its latest addition.
Leaks and rumors circulating in recent months have shed some light on the Galaxy A55, and its 3C certification has brought to light information about its battery capabilities. Notably, the A55 will support 25W fast charging, a feature that aligns with current industry standards. Interestingly, the phone will be sold without a charging brick included, a move that follows a broader trend in the smartphone market.
While 3C certifications typically do not specify the maximum charging speeds, the indications strongly suggest that the Galaxy A55 will cap at 25W. This aligns with the observation that even Samsung’s premium foldable phones do not support speeds beyond 45W, the fastest charging capability available for Galaxy smartphones.
Although details about the Galaxy A55’s battery capacity remain undisclosed, industry watchers speculate it might mirror its predecessor, the Galaxy A54, with a 5,000 mAh battery. Other specifications, such as the megapixel counts for the primary rear camera and front-facing camera, may also stay consistent.
The standout feature of the Galaxy A55 lies in its Exynos 1480 chipset. Marking a significant development, Samsung introduces a mid-range smartphone featuring a GPU developed in collaboration with AMD for the first time. Under the hood, the A55 will boast an Xclipse 530 GPU, based on the older AMD RDNA2 graphics architecture, which powers the 2022 Galaxy S22 lineup. This GPU promises superior performance compared to the Mali GPU present in the Galaxy A54.
