Samsung Foldable Phone WOW
Although Samsung is not currently actively developing a mid-range foldable phone, it wouldn’t be unexpected if the South Korean tech giant enters this market in the years to come.
As a significant player in the smartphone industry and a pioneer in foldable phone technology, Samsung has long been at the forefront of innovation. Recent speculations hinted at the company’s potential development of a mid-range foldable phone, estimated to be priced between $400 and $500 (Rs 33,000 to Rs 42,000).
Contrary to these rumors, a report from Korea JoongAng Daily refutes the existence of such plans. A spokesperson from Samsung Electronics dismissed the claims, stating, “We don’t plan to manufacture foldable smartphones that are priced in the midrange, and the latest rumors are groundless.”
Samsung gained prominence in the foldable smartphone market with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold in 2020. Despite the initial excitement surrounding these devices, their high costs posed a barrier for many potential consumers. While Samsung has made efforts to reduce the cost of foldable phones in subsequent years, factors such as a smaller battery, average camera performance, and a lack of dust resistance have continued to deter a significant portion of the market.
The likelihood of a mid-range foldable phone from Samsung remains uncertain unless the company is willing to compromise on aspects like performance or reduce profit margins. When questioned about the prospect of a more affordable foldable phone, the Samsung spokesperson stated, “There’s nothing decided on the matter.” With the foldable smartphone market becoming increasingly competitive, featuring entries from manufacturers like Oppo, Motorola, Google, and Tecno, it would not be surprising if Samsung eventually introduced a more budget-friendly foldable device in response to evolving market trends.
